About NR Sharland & Co
N R Sharland and Company was established by Nigel Sharland in 1993. Nigel qualified as an accountant in 1990 after studying maths at the University of Sussex. He started in the workplace at a large, well established, traditional accountancy firm in the City of London and after a few years continued to gain experience at a more progressive firm in the West End of London. After qualifying in 1990 Nigel was given the opportunity to manage an accountancy practice in Holborn and remained there for over two years to gain his post qualification experience. In January 1993 Nigel decided to use his knowledge and business acumen to start his own accountancy practice in North West London. His business ethos has always been to offer an efficient, professional and friendly service.
Clients of N R Sharland and Company are offered a wide variety of services and the practice keeps up to date with the latest legislation and professional education through its membership of the Association of Public Accountants. As well as running a successful accountancy practice Nigel Sharland has managed a number of businesses over the years. This hands on experience has proved invaluable in broadening his knowledge and understanding of his client’s needs.
In 2003 Nigel and his family decided to relocate to Bournemouth, however the London office continued to thrive and a regular commute was made from Dorset to London, stopping to meet clients along the M3 corridor. An office was opened in Westbourne and the client base has grown significantly over the years. The Bournemouth office was transferred to Bournemouth town centre four years ago and now clients can find us in the iconic Avalon office block on the ground floor facing Oxford Road. Our London office is still based in North West London, in Mill Hill and is managed by a loyal team.
Phillipa Sharland joined the practice full time in 2000 and has concentrated on managing the office, preparing VAT, accounts, credit control, correspondence and company formations. After joining the firm she became involved in the running of a successful cleaning company, employing over 100 staff, obtaining contracts with a blue chip leisure organisation. This helped her to gain highly valuable experience of running a business, managing staff and marketing.
